Three qualifying events for the $50,000 PGL Minor Championship: Asia wrapped up this weekend, and the teams that will head to Johor Bahru, Malaysia, have been finalized.
VG.CyberZen made a flawless run through the bracket at the Chinese qualifier without dropping a map, defeating Born of Fire 2-0 in the finals. They will join invitee TyLoo as the second Chinese representative at the Asia Minor.
The India and Middle-East qualifier saw Emirati squad BOT emerge victorious, after they defeated Team RvN in the finals. After losing the first map, Train, they clinched their spot at the Minor with wins on Dust II and Cobble.
Athletico will be the representative from Oceania after their 2-1 win over Team Immunity in their regional qualifier’s finals. After a loss on Dust II, Athletico pulled out wins on Train and Mirage to earn their ticket. They will be the second team from the region to attend, after Australian squad Renegades, who received a direct invite.
When the action begins on Oct. 28, more than the $50,000 prize pool will be on the line: the event’s Top 2 finishers will receive spots at the ELEAGUE Major 2017 Offline Qualifier, where they will join the Top 8 from ESL One Cologne 2016 and two teams each from the Americas, CIS and Europe regions. The Top 8 at the Closed Qualifier will attend the Major in January.
